The Lion & The Lamb
Both. At Once.
A God who is only a Lion is terrifying. A God who is only a Lamb is weak. Jesus is both.
The Lion
Truth. Justice. Reality.
Bold enough to challenge you.
The Lamb
Grace. Compassion. Sacrifice.
Gentle enough to heal you.
A God who is only a Lion is terrifying. A God who is only a Lamb is weak. Jesus is both. That combination is what makes Him unlike anything else in human religion or philosophy.

The Question That Changes Everything
"But who do you say that I am?" — Luke 9:20
Pillar 01 of 04
The Ultimate Question
"Everything depends on the answer."
Luke 9:20
"He said to them, 'But who do you say that I am?' And Peter answered, 'The Christ of God.'"
Luke 9:20 · ESV
He didn't ask what the crowds said. He asked what you say. That question is still open. It is the most consequential question any human being will ever face — and Jesus refuses to let it stay theoretical.

Colossians 1:16 · John 1:14
"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
Col 1:16 · John 1:14 · ESV
Jesus didn't leave us the option of calling Him just a "good guy." C.S. Lewis called it clearly: Liar, Lunatic, or Lord. Those are the only three options His own words allow. The middle ground — good teacher but not God — is the one option Jesus Himself ruled out.

The Door Is Unlocked
The door is narrow, but it is unlocked. This sounds exclusive — it's actually an open invitation.
John 14:6
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6 · ESV
Acts 4:12
"And there is salvation in no one else…"
Acts 4:12 · ESV
This sounds exclusive — but it's actually an open invitation to the whole world. The door is narrow, but it is unlocked. "No one" is the boundary. "Whoever believes" is the invitation. Both are true simultaneously.

The War Horse Fails
"The war horse is a false hope for salvation." — Psalm 33:17
Pillar 02 of 04
The Illusion of Control
"All of it eventually fails to rescue."
Psalm 33:17–18
"The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love."
Psalm 33:17–18 · ESV
Three thousand years ago it was military might and city walls. The war horse was the most advanced technology of the ancient world. Every generation builds its own war horse and trusts it with its life. The Psalm doesn't change — only the horse does.

Ancient War Horse → Modern War Horse
Career success. Bank accounts. Self-reliance. All eventually fail to rescue.
Ancient
Military might · Physical walls · Political power
Modern
Career success · Intellectual superiority · Bank accounts · Self-reliance
All eventually fail to rescue us from the deepest human crises: death, grief, and ultimate purpose. Not because they are worthless — but because they were never designed to carry that weight.

The Relentless Pursuit
"He is not a reluctant rescuer."
Luke 15:4–7
"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine… and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing… 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons…"

John 20:27
"Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here, and see my hands… Do not disbelieve, but believe.'"
John 20:27 · ESV
Thomas demanded evidence. Jesus gave it to him — physically. He didn't shame Thomas. He didn't revoke his place. He walked through a locked door specifically to reach the one who doubted. Your doubt is not a barrier. It is an invitation for Him to show up.

Grace Is a Gift, Not a Wage
"Today you will be with me in paradise." No time to fix his life. Just asked to be remembered.
Luke 23:42–43
"And he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' And he said to him, 'Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.'"
Luke 23:42–43 · ESV
The thief on the cross had no time to get baptized, go to church, or fix his life. He just asked to be remembered. Grace is a gift, not a wage. It cannot be earned, and it cannot be lost by your past — only rejected in your present.

Romans 12:2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…"

The word is metamorphoō — metamorphosis. Not behavioral modification. Not a self-improvement plan. A complete change of form, from the inside out. The same word used for what happened on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Revelation 3:20 · ESV
He pursues you relentlessly — but He will not force His way in. He stands outside the door of your life and knocks. The handle is on the inside. That is the nature of love. It cannot be coerced. It can only be received.
